The ocean was just a few steps away from the room Craig and his parents stayed in.

Around dusk the local wildlife would come out to say hello. (The birds are thick-knee curlews for our bird-watching friends out there.)

They weren't afraid of people at all and would come in nice and close in the hope of receiving food.

Dinner was an unexceptional buffet in an almost empty dining room. The cold weather had frightened away any sensible tourists.

When Craig and his family arrived back at their room, the curlews outside the room's back door had been replaced by possums.

But the possums didn't like to sit still for photos.

Craig spent the evening playing on the beds. His parents had pushed two beds together so he had plenty of space to crawl around.

He had a great time there and didn't fall asleep until quite late.
