Almost Ready for Something More

Up till now Craig has been very well-fed on mother's milk but the other night he showed an interest in the taste of Mum's apple.


He didn't seem to mind the taste of the apple.


And he even became a bit possessive of it when his Mum wasn't holding exactly where he wanted.


Eventually, he was using both hands to keep it next to his mouth. He's not much into manners and being polite but that's hardly a surprise.

Anything But a Dummy

Craig's parents have tried 3 different dummies (pacifiers for our North American friends) but he didn't like any of them. His favourite thing to put in his mouth is not his foot, although he's willing to do that with or without a sock.


His favorite thing to suck is his hand. As you can see it's not just thumb-sucking.


The longer he sucks, the more fingers go inside.


Until it really is close to being the whole top of his hand that disappears.

Don't Try This at Home

As noted in the last post it is not uncommon for Craig to grab his foot (usually his left foot with his left hand) or indeed both feet with both hands. He especially likes to do this while he is having his nappy changed.


He doesn't have any trouble pulling his toes up to his mouth. And, he doesn't care at all about whether or not it interferes with the changing of his nappy.


Once the fresh nappy has been put on, if he is just left to his own devices on a bed he will usually just lie on his back and show the world how hard and fast he can kick his legs and wave his arms. He really likes it and his Dad thinks it is Craig's way of showing off.


But when he becomes bored with that, his hand will move towards his foot and begin to pull it up towards his face......


He can even casually face the camera while he does it!


His Dad insists that his toes are clean but it's still not an elegant look.

Craig the Gymnast

OK, so maybe the title of this post is a small exaggeration but Craig is about as flexible as you would expect any 5-month old baby to be. His Dad has recently been predicting that it will not be long before he is putting one of his own feet in his mouth. He hasn't lived up to that yet but it won't be long now.




One odd thing about these pictures is that the camera used by Craig's Dad makes his hair look a redder colour than it actually is in real life. It's a kind of sandy colour when seen with the naked eye but no matter what the colour, he's a good-looking boy.


The picture below has nothing to do with the ones above but not long after Craig's Aunty Bess came to stay she bought a wireless router and now she and Craig's Mum can put their laptop computers down wherever they like and still get on the internet. But Craig's poor Dad only has a desktop computer so he's still tied to a desk whenever he wants to update Craig's blog. Life is tough, eh?
