A Week in the Life

It's been a while since the last post because Craig's Dad has been busier than usual. Craig's routine hasn't changed much. He often has dinner on Saturday downstairs on the second floor. Sometimes, before dinner he will sit with Craig's Cousin Yu-chi to watch Dora the Explorer. Craig's Dad is a little bit concerned that the show is so stupid that it might cause brain damage but he has been assured by other adults that he is worrying too much. :>

Fortunately, the TV watching doesn't affect Craig's appetite.

Craig has become very fond of the sugar glider that he recieved at Christmas time from Craig's Aunty Anne et al. At kindy, they have a toy sharing activity every Friday. Currently, Craig seems to think that is a good reason for him to take his sugar glider to kindy every day!! In this picture he is putting into his backpack on Sunday night, ready for Monday morning.

When staying at home with Craig's Dad, Craig is still very good about helping with the laundry.

There haven't been many sunny mornings recently but when the sun is out Craig's Dad likes to take Craig to the park nearest home for some recreation.

Unfortunately, Craig likes to simply sit at the top of the slide and admire the view.

Sometimes he can sit there for quite a while.

At another park a little further from home Craig likes to climb on these horizontal bars. Normally he's too afraid to climb as high as he has in this picture so Craig's Dad had to take a picture quickly.

Sure enough, Craig was quick to climb down one bar to where he felt safer.

On that particular sunny day, Craig insisted on going to a third park even further from home that has a "big slide." Craig likes the big slide.

Despite the beautiful sunshine there was no one else playing on the slide that day but Craig didn't mind.

That meant he could just sit at the top for as long as he wanted.

On Saturday morning Craig had breakfast at his favourite breakfast shop with both Mum and Dad. That hasn't happened very often recently.

Craig had lunch with his Mum and Dad in a really noisy food court at a department store in Neihu.

Craig didn't seem to mind the noise. He just wanted lunch.

After lunch it was off to do what Craig does best, sitting on the top of a slide in a park!

He really can sit in one place for quite a long time if no one moves him along.

After a while they travelled by MRT to Dahu Park where Craig did some climbing.

Craig is getting much better at climbing and walking on this sort of thing.

He's not fast but he's not afraid of falling like he was when he was younger and can enjoy himself while he walks across now. That's pretty important, wouldn't you say?

The Quiet Life

Craig's life has settled into a routine. Monday to Friday he spends the morning with Craig's Dad before arriving at kindy in time for lunch. Craig's Mum picks him up in the afternoon and he is sometimes already in bed when Craig's Dad arrives home from work. The upshot is that the amount of time that Craig spends with two parents to attend to him has been dramatically reduced.

Sometimes, on Saturday he can have his Mum read a story to him while Dad is on standby to play games.

Craig is very particular about how the story should be read.

On Thursdays, Craig's Mum and Dad can pick Craig up from kindy and everyone can walk home together.

Craig is always in a good mood at those times.

Craig has also learned how to recharge his mobile phones.

Recent bad weather has meant that most mornings are spent at home with Craig's Dad but a few days have been dry enough to allow Craig to play outdoors.

Craig's quiet life has included dinner downstairs on the second floor almost every night. He's normally quite happy with that because he can play with his cousins after dinner. There's some good things about living quietly.

Saturday Sliding

After several days in a row of cold wet weather Saturday was cool but the skies were very clear. Craig was bursting with energy and needed to get outdoors. First, Craig went to the small park nearest home.

But he didn't stay long. Craig insisted on going to another park. So, they walked over to the park that has a big concrete slide that lots of kids love. Luckily, Craig's cousins Soit-Jade and Yu-chi were already there. Not long after Craig arrived Craig and his two cousins teamed up to slide down the big slide together.

After they'd slid down a few times another little girl decided to join in.

That seemed to add to the fun. The four of them slid down and then ran back up to do it again no less than 20 times.

After all that sliding everyone needed a break, especially Craig's Aunty Jessie (aka Yu-fang), who had been standing at the top of the slide to line up the little foursome each time. Luckily, she had some snacks that kept the children occupied while she rested.

They also had a rocking-good time on a see-saw built for four! It's good to have friends to play with.

Uncle Jim's Pics and Videos of a Sunday in Yeppoon

Some pictures and videos have travelled by slow boat from Australia all the way to Taiwan and can finally now be posted on the blog. They were all taken on Sunday Nov. 29, 2009. The first one shows how difficult it was to get Craig and Bailey to kick the ball to each other without someone getting upset.

After that game had finished Craig went back to running laps around Grandma's house.

He really liked this game a lot and giggled a lot while he was running.

Meanwhile, Craig's Grandma and Aunty Annette were staying cool by keeping out of the sun.

In the afternoon was the trip to Cooee Bay Park already described here.

Craig and Bailey really do get along very well.

Craig had to play by himself for a little while when Bailey insisted that Aunty Annette had to take him to the (very windy) beach.

Craig wanted Bailey to come back so that they could play with the water tap a bit more.

Which is exactly what they did.

After that it was time to go back to the house. Once they got there Bailey began playing the garden hose.

Craig actually had a good time but, as mentioned before, it was very windy and that made it too cold for Craig to play for very long.

He was much warmer after being wrapped up in a towel.

Craig's next concern was hunger! He's not afraid to help himself to food in the fridge.

He hung out in the kitchen until Craig's Dad found him a snack.

Food makes Craig happy almost all the time.

Visitors on Saturday

Craig had some visitors on Saturday morning. In fact, Craig and his two second-cousins had been playing happily on the jungle gym in the park nearest home but rain chased them inside.

Craig wasn't always willing to share but there was plenty of toys to go around and unhappy moments were very few and far between.

Craig helped his second-cousin Ying-chi play the electric piano. Her playing sounded much more musical.

The boys had plenty of fun with Craig's puzzles.

And, Ying-chi helped Craig's Mum check the Lotto numbers. Craig's Mum and Dad did not win again.

In the afternoon Craig went for a walk with his parents to a local hypermarket. He doesn't like to walk the easy way.

After dinner on the second floor, Craig had a go at riding his cousin Soit-Jade's tricycle. He sometimes struggles with using the pedals to make it go forward but sometimes he just pushes it along with his feet on the floor.

Back at home that evening Craig put his soft-toy sugar glider inside his shirt but he didn't want Craig's Dad to take a picture. So, this was the best that Craig's Dad could do ..... it's still a bit blurry but you get the idea.
