Big Day Out

Last Thursday morning began with a visit to the park for Craig and his Dad.

Craig checked out a brick wall for structural defects when he first arrived.

Craig's Mum arrived a few minutes later after taking care of some banking.

Craig's Mum tried to supervise him while he climbed the stairs. Craig needs supervising because sometimes he will pay too much attention to other children running around and not enough attention to where his feet are going.

After Craig had walked up and slid down about 5 times, Craig's Dad began videoing. Of course, Craig stopped sliding almost straight away.

He then began to play his running away game. This time his Mum chased him.

And carried him all the way back.

Lunch was at a cheap sandwich place. Craig likes the rice burgers they sell there.

After Craig's afternoon nap, because Craig's Mum looked very tired, Craig's Dad volunteered to take Craig out for a while. Craig's Dad thought it would be a good idea to go for a ride on the new bike. It was the first time that Craig wore his new helmet.

After one more picture it was time to go.

The first stop was just inside the riverside park, a few metres from the temple that had set off the fireworks that had scared Craig so badly the last time he travelled through that part of the world. On this day, there was a huge activity that looked like a funeral. It's hard to tell with these things.

After travelling to the other side of the river, Craig's Dad stopped so that Craig could play on a rocking .... animal.

It's been said before but the park is very big.

When riding along the bike-paths there are good maps to let you where you are.

After riding about halfway around Taipei (small exaggeration) Craig's Dad finally stopped to let Craig play on a basketball court.

He had to stay on the court because the ground all through the park was still soaked through after rain the previous few days.

But Craig was happy on the court and no-one else was using it.

Craig's Dad had to ride out of the park to buy a drink and Craig had a snack.

Back in the park, the nearest map showed they were a long way from home.

But 30 minutes of solid riding had them home and then five minutes of walking later Craig was at his favourite restaurant once again. Craig inspected the usual pack of crayons while his Mum checked out the menu.

Craig likes to carry plenty of toys with him. The red spade is now his favourite since the purple spade went missing days ago.

Craig's cup had been left at home but he doesn't mind using a big person's straw.

His children's meal was devoured quickly.

He was a hungry boy who was nearing the end of a very big day.
